Oodles of 3d modeling this week!

Heyo!

I've been struck by a super creative bug this week which has netted some really good results in my modeling through Maya. I was really surprised when I began work on these two creations because I re-learned a lesson that I thought I had already learned back when I first began! However, after transferring from my previous project to my latest two, I realized that I hadn't been using this simple lesson at all!

Anyway, all I had been forgetting was to separate each part of my design into individual polygons! I kind of had been doing this, but when I'd finished with a part, I'd merge them all into one object which just made it a complete nightmare to edit parts of the design  later on in the project. Lesson learned! On a side note, there has been a lot of little things that have clicked for me when using Maya which have resulted in much cleaner and precise finished products and superbly faster finish times.

To the purpose of this post! I have just finished creating two new weapons: a Chaos Space Marine bolt pistol and a Chaos Space Marine chainsword from Warhammer 40,000. These two pieces are without a doubt my best work so far.

I haven't bothered with texturing as there is still a lot for me to learn in that area and my main focus and joy is modeling. I will texture these at some point, but I'll watch a few more tutorials on it before I do.I've also posted up various angles of each weapon so you can get a solid look at it.

First up, the bolt pistol:

And now for the chainsword:

Thanks for looking through! I hope you enjoyed this, I know I sure did while I was creating them! See ya!
